October's Marigold - A Finish

Design - "October's Marigold"
Designer - Cottage Garden Samplings
FAbric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - WDW - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 23 September 2014
Completed - 27 October 2014

A wonderful October stitch! Black and orange aren't my favorite colors by any stretch, but with the yellow, orange and green of the marigolds I think the piece is great and is probably going to be on my short list to be framed next year.

Here's a final celebration of our October Marigolds taken mid-month.

My sister loves September and October. These flowers are part of the reason why.

Making Marigolds

I've been working away making marigolds. It doesn't look like much but it took me two long sessions to get the blossoms stitched.

Down in my sister's garden there are lots of pollinators who appreciate have October's Marigolds!

Adding Orange

On Sunday I picked up "October's Marigold" after a couple of week's hiatus. I stitched the black cat, the orange moon, and the eyes and mouths of all the pumpkins.  I also stitched the sentiment.  All that is left to do - the marigolds!

October's Marigold - The Border

I made a really good start yesterday stitching on the border for "October's Marigold". This is a pretty Autumn stitch and good fun!

In keeping with today's stitch, here's a spider's hard work on display. Spiderwebs are another sign of Autumn.

October's Marigold in September

There's a common theme with my stitching and gardening this week.
I've kitted up Cottage Garden Samplings "October's Marigold". This pattern uses WDW threads in green, yellow, orange, and rust.  I am excited to begin.

My sister planted a row of marigolds in her dahlia garden.

While I complain daily about our 90f+ weather, the marigolds are thriving in the heat.

Oh my, May in September

While watching Doctor Who on our way to the lake, I was working on May.

And here it is, completed in September.
I changed the lettering to purple, I just thought it needed something a little brighter.  Those leaves were a huge PITA, at least I thought so!

Poppies blooming in the summer heat.

Happy Dance time!!

I have another finish. A two for one (hehe). I am working on the "My Garden Journal" monthly series and am working it up into a four seasons style finish. Last night I put the last stitch in August's Poppy completing the summer panel.

First up...August's Poppy. DD and I both agree
that the blue and white waves on the bottom
are the best.

Here we have the full summer panel.

Only 3 more months and one final panel to complete before the series is done.

Yea!  I managed to get this finished in August as part of my goal to turn UFO's into WIPs and then WIPs into finished stitches.

Yet another really pretty design in this series.  I think the Morning Glories are stunning! So detailed.

Very life-like when compared to the real thing!

September's Morning Glory - Flowers!

I've been working along on Cottage Garden Samplings "September's Morning Glory".  The blue flowers are composed of six different colors of floss, the purple of four different colors.  Now I need to stitch seven leaves and some assorted vines, and this WIP will be complete.

Another finish in the same month? Oh My! I finished July's Delphinium this weekend. Don't you just love the the picnic?

Here is the Summer Panel to date. Just 4 more month's and the year is complete!

I can't ever seem to get a good picture but I love the bright colors in these two. Only 4 more months to go. I think I might start on August this weekend.

September's Morning Glory - Stitching Progres

A bit more progress to share on "September's Morning Glory".
I've finished the squirrels, the owls, all the falling leaves and the sentiment.  Now I've begun stitching the morning glory blooms.  They are in purples (4 colors) and blues (4 colors) with rather complex shading.

September's Morning Glory - Finally Started

I kitted up Cottage Garden Samplings "September's Morning Glory" back in late June. And there it sat...and sat...and sat.

I finally got re-energized and began stitching.  I worked on it a couple of days and have most of the border done.  I'll finish that up and continue work on the sentiment, then on to the morning glories!

My sister always grows some morning glories in her kitchen garden. I hope they'll still be in bloom by the time I've finished this.

Honeysuckles and Delphiniums are Blooming

Hello all,

I am so excited I finished another month on "My Garden Journal" and about half way on another!!

First up: June's Honeysuckle

Aren't those little bees in the border so cute?
Next is my progress on July's Delphinium.

Last week I was contacted by Cottage Garden Samplings seeking my permission to post my progress pictures on their Face Book page. They liked the idea of doing a set of 4 Seasons. What else could I say but "YES". I was so excited to see their post. Their post gave me such a thrill, that now I can hardly put this project down.

An April finish in July!

Well, it's still July and I finally finished April!  Although the weather here has been on the cool side, and I have seen seeing quite a few bunnies.
I decided the bottom and right side vines needed some colour, so I changed the green to purple.  I think that's the only change I made this time.  I would have changed the letters, but I had already done them and didn't want any frogs on this piece!

Angela and Beth, I'm impressed with your progress, keep on going!  Parsley, where are you in the midst of the flowers?

December's Holly Complete

Halfway there!!!

Yay!! December's Holly is complete.

Which also means that the Winter panel is also done. :)

The below picture of both my Winter and Spring panels more accurately shows the color of the fabric.

Next up is June on the new color fabric. This just goes to show that if you are going to do a project with more than one piece of fabric you should get all the fabric at the same time because you never know when a color will be discontinued.

December's Holly

Hello,
I decided to stitch this series in a set of 4 panels. The Spring panel is complete, and am almost finished with the Winter panel.
Spring Panel: March, April & May
Isn't it beautiful how the colors compliment each other?
I had such a hard time trying to decide what to work on after Lessons but I finally decided on My Garden Journal. I figured I would complete the second panel of the 4 seasons and started on December's Holly. I am really enjoying the colors in this one. I have been a little slow this last week on stitching (only stitching about every other day and sometimes only about 15 stitches at a time). I am hoping to complete December this weekend...we will see. If so, I will be half finished with this series. It is so fun to see these designs come together.

About half way as of last night when I finally put it down.

August Stitch in June

Here it is in all its glory!
I don't know why it took me so long to stitch this.

Design - "August's Poppy"
Designer - Cottage Garden Samplings
Fabric - 28 count Waterlily linen
Fibers - GAST, WDW, & DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 30 March 2014
Completed - 10 June 2014

I used the fabric and the fibers as charted.  This series by Cottage Garden Sampling is available at an Local Needlwork store or online store. It's a super fun series to stitch.

I love the colors. The informality of the poppies is perfectly captured in this design.  Wonderful. Another winner in this super series.

And here are some of my poppies - they applaud my stitching efforts!

We Have Blossoms!

I've made some progress on "August's Poppy" and have stitched the blossoms.  Now I just have stems and leaves left to stitch.  Then on to September's design.

August's Poppy - The Border

Whoop Whoop!
The border is done!  The border is done!
On to stitching poppies.

August's Poppy - Still Stitching

The weather changed late Saturday night to rain, so I was able to get some stitching done on Sunday. "August's Poppy" now sports a sailboat and anchor and the completed sentiment. There's still lots of border work to be done before I tackle the poppies.

August's Poppy Progress

I have neglected Cottage Garden Sampling's "August's Poppy" as of late.  Last night I got it out and stitched one of the roiling waves and "When the waves..." I don't know why I set it aside as I really enjoy working on it.  So it's back on my stitching rotation for sure!

Summer-Like Weather Summer Stitch

Well, it's time to get working on another in the series.
I've kitted up Cottage Garden Samplings "August's Poppy".
Bright bright colors on this one - it should be fun.

The weather the past few days has seemed almost summer-like too. I've been outside without a coat or sweater or tights - just a summery polo dress.  The cats and I have been loving it.

July's Delphinium - Finished

Here it is - finished!

Design - "July's Delphinium"
Designer - Cottage Garden Samplings
Fabric - 32 count Lambswool linen
Fibers - GAST & WDW & DMC - 2 strands over 2 threads
Started - 12 January 2014
Completed - 10 March 2014

The delphiniums were a little 'fiddly' to stitch, but it was worth it as they turned out very life-like. This series continues to delight me month after month!

Series Sunday Progress

What with one thing and another (life) I haven't worked on Cottage Garden Sampling's "July's Delphinium" for a couple of weeks. Sunday evening's Oscar telecast provided the perfect opportunity to get back on track.  I managed to stitch one leaf and a stock of delphinium.

Padma and Parvati used the evening to map out a new Synchronized Sleeping routine. Who spent the evening more wisely?

April's Daisy - Finished

Another month finished!!!

I was able to get April's Daisy finished last weekend. Sorry for the wrinkles but I don't want to iron until I get finish May's Lily of the Valley. I do enjoy the way these pieces are coming together and look when completed next to each other.
